Three poachers arrested from Assam national park; leopard skin, flesh seized

Personnel of the Assam forest department and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) on Friday arrested three poachers from the Rai Mona National Park in Kokrajhar, officials said.
The three poachers, involved in the illegal practice of smuggling animal body parts, were caught while in possession of five kilograms of leopard flesh and its skin.
The forest department interrogated the arrested poachers and found out that they had been smuggling to neighbouring countries the body parts of animals like elephants, deer and leopards for a long time.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case against the accused poachers and are interrogating them for further investigation into the matter.
The Rai Mona National Park in Assam’s Kokrajhar district is famous for Asian elephant, clouded leopard, Bengal tiger, gaur, chital and more.
